A splendid mid 19th century portrait miniature of a beautiful young lady.
The miniature has no visible signature, and appears to be painted on vellum, or some sort of natural wafer.
The sitter is wearing a beautiful low cut white gown with ruffled shoulders. Her blue two strand necklace, possibly blue sapphires & diamonds, hangs gracefully, and her brown corkscrew curls are gently pulled up raising her profile. The background is a simple sky blue.
The portrait measures 2.5 x 3. The copper frame measures 3 x 3.25.
Very good antique condition.
This fine miniature will look great displayed in your curio cabinet. It frame can be easily modified so you can wear as a brooch.
