This pair of exceptional wall sconces will definitely light up your life!
The glass, which isn't lit in the photos, is mottled white, in the style of such glass by Schneider. It has a tiny bit of opalescence to it, so the color is quite attractive. It's relatively heavy and nicely styled as you would expect from the design-conscious French.
The metal, as stated, is by Boretti of Lyon, one of Lyon's top Art Deco period lighting manufacturers. It's not marked, but you can take my word for it! I have seen and owned a great deal of their often breath-taking work!
The metal is solid brass; it's been plated in a brushed nickel finish. That finish has encountered slight compromise from exposure to various elements, but in general you wouldn't notice that without a very close inspection.
The sconces have been rewired. They have their original bayonet French sockets installed, which means that you have a limited choice of bulbs (but they are available, easily found on the Internet). I found one on one of the various Internet sites that offers a smallish 30-watt bayonet bulb (which will be entirely hidden by the glass). Converting these to American electrical components would not be practical (or maybe even possible).
Easy installation -- two screws for each sconce! Note that the widest part of the sconce is only two and 3/8 inches. You don't get this kind of unusual and sleek design with standard American cover-the-electrical-hole ability! You can mud in the rest of the hole, or... whatever...
Measurements: about 15 1/2 inches wide and 10 1/4 top to bottom. The glass projects a bit over 6 inches from the wall.
