Designed by Anja Jaatinen-Winquist (born 1934 in Sortavala, Russia) and in production between 1971 and 1975, this is a vintage set of five Arabia Finland "Karelia" demitasse cups and saucers, a total of 10 pieces.
The Karelia (a historic region of Eastern Finland) dinnerware pattern was popular at a time when Finnish country romance and artisanal cottage-style ceramics were in trend during the 1970’s and 80’s, and this particular stoneware pottery with a light coloured background and rustic motif was the choice table setting in cafés and restaurants. In homes, the simple and neutral pattern made Karelia a durable and lasting choice that can easily be mixed and matched with other M-model dinnerware sets such as Pirtti, Kaira, and Saara.
The cups measure 3" in diameter, 4.25" across in width to tip of handle, 2.63" in height.
The saucers measure 6.25" in diameter and 0.5" in height.
