Signed upper left, 'May' for Dan May (American, 1952-2019) and dated June, 2017.
After study with Larry Stobie at Oregon College of Education, Dan May exhibited in his galleries 'The Yellow Front' and 'The Big Sleep', which he established, curated, and directed himself in the town he loved and always referred to as "Island Salem."
May exhibited nationally including in Los Angeles, Seattle, and New York City. In Portland, he exhibited with Jamison Thomas gallery and, subsequently, at Jane Beebe's PDX Contemporary Art, which continues to represent the artist's estate.
May's work is held in numerous public and private collections including the permanent collections of the Portland Art Museum, the Hallie Ford Museum of Art, and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, among others.
