Pihl 1967 Watercolor of Hook Point, Cooper’s Island, British Virgin Islands, Framed with Museum Conservation Glass. Hadley Chamberlain Pihl died at Park Place, Elmhurst, Illinois, in 2019. Hadley was born and raised in the Cape Cod area of Massachusetts and attended Harvard University where he graduated in 1947 with a degree in business administration. In the late 1940s, he moved to Chicago to begin employment at Sears Roebuck and Co., starting out as a buyer for the plumbing and toy departments before moving on to catalog marketing. His love of painting began early in life under the tutelage of his father and flourished in the decades that followed. This ethereal watercolor depicts Hook Point on Cooper’s Island in the British Virgin Islands. The framing, totaling $850 alone, is exquisite with an off white linen mat, museum glass, and a 24 karat gold leaf wood frame.
