Large clay head vessel by Northwest artist Clayton James, a sculptor, painter and an important figure in Northwest art history. He has several works in the permanent collection of the Museum of Northwest Art. This piece is an abstract head that is open at the top and underneath. There is a firing line lower center with an ink line, and the piece is signed "James '75" underneath.
