This Henri Matisse very rare vintage 1948 first edition lithograph print collector's French Modern Art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The softcover art book with firm paper board covers and glassine dust jacket wrapper is published by Fernand Hazan Paris. This fourth volume in The Bibliotheque Aldine Des Arts Series is published under the direction of Ben Sussan, printed in France in December 1948 by Viale et L'Hotellier, typography by L'Imprimerie Belland. It features a monograph survey collection of the artworks of Henri Matisse, with accompanied French language essay authored by Andre Lejard.
Henri Matisse ( 1869 - 1954 ) the French born artist is known for both hi sense of color and fluid aesthetic. Matisse is commonly regarded, along with Picasso as one of the most important artists who helped to define and influence radical Contemporary Art of The Twentieth Century. His mastery of the expressive language of color and drawing won him recognition as a leading figure in world Modern Art. Artworks by Matisse are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
This is a rare opportunity for true Matisse and French Modern Art fans and collectors both as this exquisite intimate scale lithograph print art books is long out of print and very scarce to find. This special volume presents twenty beautiful full-color lithograph print illustrations.
The rare out of print 1st edition small format Modern Art book measures 4 1/2" W X 7" H X 1/4" D, with 54 pages. It features 20 lithograph print illustrations ( 21 with the cover illustration ), including 4 double-page illustrations, and an artwork list.
It is in excellent clean vintage condition consistent with age, use, light signs of handling, and light to moderate wear. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price.
