A superb pair of Indian wall candlesticks carved in wood and dating from the 19th century.
Initially, these were the ends of interior beams from luxury homes or temples that were cut, probably during renovation work, and then recovered to make candleholders.
The 2 pieces are not identical; this is old craftsmanship.
The beams must have been painted, as there are traces of green and red paint on the candlesticks.
Rare and finely worked 19th century pieces.
Very decorative and elegant.
