This " David Hockney : A Bigger Exhibition " rare first edition large hardcover collector's Pop Art exhibition art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover book with aqua blue linen covered boards, embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Del Monico Books & Prestel Verlag Munich, London, New York. Printed in Italy in 2013 to accompany the exhibition at The De Young Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco.
David Hockney ( B. 1937 ) is an English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. He is an important contributor to The Pop Art Movement of the 1960's. He is considered one of the most influential British artists of The 20th Century. His artworks have commanded greater popular acclaim than any other Contemporary British artist. The Pop Art Expressionist artworks have been the subject of more than 400 solo exhibitions. Art works by Hockney are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
" David Hockney : A Bigger Exhibition " is a comprehensive survey of the artist's oeuvre beginning in 2002 when he extended his repertoire to include new forays into watercolor, charcoal, computer and ipad drawing, and the multicamera digital movie, including works made as recently as 2013. This landmark volume further reveals Hockney's broad artistic spectrum. It includes five compelling essays that contextualize Hockney's achievements in The Twenty First Century.
Published on the occasion of a major exhibition at The De Young Museum in San Francisco, produced in collaboration with the artist's studio, this book is filled with a lavish selection of recent work and rare in progress photographs. It showcases one of the most diverse and prolific chapters in David Hockney's career.
The rare out of print 1st edition large format collector's Pop Art exhibition book measures 10 1/4" W X 12 1/4" H X 1" D, featuring 324 illustrations including several multi-page center fold outs.
