This unique pair of polychrome Chinese porcelain pottery "foo" dogs (or lions) were created during the Qing Dynasty in the late 19th century. Rare - their pastel hues are just as chic and relevant over a century later. Originally designed to hold incense, one retains its "palm" topped holder. The other's appears to have chipped off long ago. One foo's head is topped with the Chinese symbol meaning "king of heaven, man, and earth". Both are hand glazed in a range of pink, imperial yellow, turquoise, green, and blue. Unmarked. Be sure to check out the coordinating antique petite foo dog listed in our shop. The three together make quite a decorative statement.
Each measures 9" tall x 3.5" wide x 2.75" deep.
Both are in very good antique condition. As noted above - one is missing its incense holder "cap". Both are structurally sound with no major damage beyond various chips, "dings" and wear commensurate with antique Chinese pottery. See photos for details.
