The artwork is signed in the lower right corner by the artist S. Audibert and dated 1885. The maritime painting shows 19th century ocean-fairing ships with masts entering the harbor in the foreground and the "Phare de Sainte Marie lighthouse" in the background in an impressionist style. The painting is in excellent condition with rich, realistic colors; throughout the painting, the viewer can get a sense of the artist's expertise in the rendering of space, light and a beautifully hazy atmosphere.
