The hardcover art book with with tan linen covered boards, gold tone foil embossed cover and spine titles, and dust jacket is published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers New York, printed in Japan in 1985. It features a monograph survey collection of the artworks of the Modernist artist Fernand Leger, with accompanied compelling text by author Werner Schmalenbach.

Fernand Leger ( 1881 - 1955 ) The French born painter, sculptor, and filmmaker is known for creating his own unique form of Cubism which he gradually modified into a more figurative, populist style. His bold simplified treatment of modern subject matter has regarded him as one of the most important forerunner artists of Pop Art. Artworks by Leger are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.

More than any other artist of his time, Leger had his finger on the pulse of Modern Life. His primary influence was The Modern Age itself, with its cities, factories, advertising posters and billboards, and great masses of people working and playing. He responded to this world with dynamic, colorful, and monumental works of art, becoming one of the great painters of The Twentieth Century.

The rare out of print hardcover Modern Art book measures 9 1/4" W X 12 1/4" H X 5/8" D, with 128 pages. It features 90 illustrations, including 40 offset lithograph print plates in full color.
