this is just a great original piece. About a decade ago was the last time I owned a gustave cimiotti painting. His works come to market often but generally go for more than I am willing to spend. For those not familiar with the artist I have included his biography below. This is a classic cimiotti maine coastal painting. Oil on canvas board measuring 16 x 20 inches. Signed lower right. Painting is in good condition with what is just an obvious layer of surface grime. I was going to get it cleaned but thought perhaps the new owner would rather use their own restorer. If it doesnt sell, I might just have it done by mine. It really is a beautiful painting and once cleaned the colors will really pop. Painting is unframed and the corners show some very minor rubbing from a previous framing. On the back of the panel is the artist's title in marker as well as his hand written address from his gallery in new york city - the same address as winslow homer and william merritt chase. Really just a wonderful painting. See less
