Fine mid century impressionist oil painting by listed California / Washington artist Blessing LeMon (1909-1973)
Original oil on canvas. Dimensions 18 x 24. The period frame measures 31 x 25.
Signed lower right. Very good condition. Some age to the frame.
Born in Tacoma, WA on Oct. 8, 1909. Blessing (aka Betty) LeMon moved to Los Angeles with her family as a young girl. She studied in NYC with Robert Brackman. By 1930 she was working as an artist in Los Angeles and soon married artist Frank P. Maginnis. Leaving Los Angeles, she and her family had joint residences in Mendocino, CA and Haney, B.C. While being treated for cancer, she died in Tijuana, Mexico on Nov. 22, 1973. Exh: Artists Fiesta (LA), 1931; Greek Theater (LA), 1954.
