About Cambridge Glass Company
Cambridge Glass was a distinguished manufacturer of glassware established in 1873 in Cambridge, Ohio. The company gained particular acclaim in the 1920s for producing a remarkable range of colored glassware, initially featuring opaque shades before transitioning to transparent varieties by decade's end.
Despite their exceptional quality and design innovation, Cambridge Glass struggled to compete with mass-produced alternatives. The company briefly closed in 1954, reopened in 1955, but ultimately succumbed to financial difficulties and closed permanently in 1958 after several ownership changes. Imperial Glass Company acquired the Cambridge molds in 1960, continuing their legacy for three more decades until 1984.
