Mildred Vejtasa Fenner was born in 1911, in Adam, N.D. She was the eldest of six children. When she was 5, the family moved to Circle, N.D. Following high school in Circle, she attended Eastern Montana State Normal School in Billings, and became an elementary school teacher.
In 1937, she married Wayne Fenner, a mining engineer. They had three sons. She taught at Cardwell, MT until the family moved to California in 1952. They lived in Watsonville, Calif., and she taught at Salsipuedes Elementary School and Moss Landing Middle School until her retirement in 1976. Mildred was a prolific painter, an avid dancer, and a world traveler during her retirement years. She moved to Hermosa Beach, Calif., in 2002 and died July 5, 2005. See less
