We originally thought this … Read more Memorial portrait of an unusual child painted in Germany during the middle of the 18th century. We originally thought this was a portrait of a dwarf. An art historian explained that often children were painted to closely resemble their father so there would be no lingering question about parentage. Obviously this child was part of a wealthy family. In any case this is an unusual and interesting portrait that manages to reflect well the times that he lived in. See less
