1950’s Original Daybed By Mucke Melder – Fully Restored. Founded in the 1920s in Frytát, in the Czech republic. Mucke Melder was the leading producer of modernist tubular metal based furniture of the time. The industrial use of tubular metal in furniture came from the modernist designs of the iconic Bauhaus movement and the work of Mucke Melder was heavily inspired by this movement and the designs of Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam and Marcel Bruer amongst others. Sadly little history is known of the Mucke Melder factory, although many of their products have fortunately survived. Our daybed was sourced by ourselves in Czech, we have reupholstered the base in a new cotton chenille fabric and added some cushions. Beautifully upholstered this daybed is fully restored and exceptionally comfortable. Seat height 41cm. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
