Created in China during the Qing Dynasty period in the 19th century, this low table features a rectangular top with central board, sitting above a stunning apron carved on all sides. The table will therefore be able to float and be seen from all angles. This apron showcases a rhythm of scrolling clouds, an auspicious motif, and mythical figures adorning the corners. Coffee tables as we call them now evolved from the Kang tables that were developed in the Ming Dynasty. Those low tables were long and rectangular with short legs and placed on a kang which was a raised three-walled platform.
The ensemble, showcasing a dark brown lacquer complimenting the lines beautifully, is raised on graceful chow legs.
