The Cardinal is an artwork realized by Mario Schifano, in the 1990s. Mixed Media on Photograph. cm.10x15 . Monogrammed on the back. Good conditions Mario Schifano (Homs, September 20, 1934 - Rome, January 26, 1998) was an Italian painter and director. Together with Franco Angeli and Tano Festa he represented a fundamental point of Italian and European Pop art. Perfectly inserted in the international cultural panorama of the sixties, he was reputed to be a prolific, exuberant artist and a lover of worldliness. His lifelong drug habit earned him the label of a cursed artist. Passionate scholar of new pictorial techniques, he was among the first to use the computer to create works and was able to process computer images and transfer them onto emulsified canvases (the "computerised canvases"). The author's prolificity and the apparent simplicity of his works led to the spread of a large number of forgeries, especially after his death. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
