Found on a recent trip to Provincetown, at a tag sale in one of the town's few remaining old houses, just before it was sold. Made in the manner of Peter Hunt, the Provincetown artist known for his hand-painted peasant-style furniture, they were originally crafted as kitchen cupboard doors and thoughtfully modified over time into window shutters.

Each shutter is painted with a charming angel dressed in simple country attire against a weathered blue ground, in the peasant-style folk art tradition. The painted finish is original and carries an authentic patina.

The shutters are in good, lovingly used condition, with imperfections consistent with their age. The original mounting hinges were removed over time, and new hinges can easily be added for hanging on a wall or in a frame. They would suit a farmhouse or cottage kitchen, or hang on their own as folk art.

Original blue painted finish with patina and wear consistent with age. Originally kitchen cupboard doors, later modified into window shutters. The original hinges have been removed, and new hinges are needed for mounting. See less
