The architectural form, intricate openwork and flashes of colored glass give this lantern a particularly decorative presence whether illuminated or unlit.

The lantern features an elaborate Moorish architectural silhouette, with a domed pierced-metal crown, projecting geometric framework and tapered lower section. The metalwork is individually hand-cut and pierced with traditional Islamic geometric, floral and arabesque motifs, creating the intricate filigree effect characteristic of Moroccan lighting.

Small panels of clear and multicolor glass in amber, green, cobalt blue and red are incorporated throughout the metal framework. When illuminated, the combination of pierced metalwork and colored glass produces atmospheric patterns of light and shadow across surrounding walls and ceilings—a distinctive feature of traditional Moroccan lantern design.

The aged dark bronze-tone surface has been retained for its authentic vintage character rather than polished to a bright finish. Variations in patina, handmade construction and surface texture are inherent to the artisanal nature of the piece and contribute to its individuality.

The lantern has been rewired for use in the United States and accommodates one standard light bulb, 60 watts maximum. It is supplied with a coordinating dark metal chain and 5-inch-diameter ceiling canopy, ready for professional installation. Additional chain can be added when a longer overall drop is required, making the fixture adaptable to different ceiling heights.

With a lantern body measuring 25 inches high × 11 inches wide × 11 inches deep, this is a substantial decorative fixture without being oversized. Its relatively narrow 11-inch profile makes it particularly suitable for an entry hall, hallway, vestibule, stair landing, powder room, dressing room or intimate passageway, as well as grouped with additional Moroccan lighting in a larger interior.

Handcrafted in Marrakech, Morocco, the fixture reflects the long tradition of Moroccan metalworking in which skilled artisans pierce, cut and assemble metal by hand before incorporating individual pieces of glass.
