Original Silkscreen Musuem Poster/Print, Rare early Museum Exhibition Poster printed by Samper Silkscreen, LA. in 1992
While there isn't a recent "groundbreaking" show, the Laguna Art Museum (LAM) has hosted significant Pettibon exhibitions and featured his iconic California-themed silkscreens, like the 1992 show with its famous "I Thought California Would Be Different" poster, connecting to his punk roots and classic surfer imagery, establishing a strong local link for this seminal L.A. artist known for blurring high/low art with ironic text and drawings.
The "California" Theme: Pettibon, closely tied to L.A. punk (Black Flag, Minutemen), often explored California's dark, complex landscapes, making the Laguna Art Museum a natural venue.
1992 Exhibition: A notable show featured rare silkscreens, including the iconic "I Thought California Would Be Different" poster, highlighting his signature blend of text and imagery.
