Pair of beautiful French Chinoiserie fireplace screen decorative art stands. These screens were originally crafted to set next to a chair beside a fireplace to deflect the heat off of your face. Hand-painted in the japanned method mounted on a set of tall wood poles with tri-figured wood bases with gold trim detail. While it presents an adjustable key behind the art piece, a previous owner made it permanent in one spot and the key does not function. A stunning statuesque pair of late 1800s French artistry and culture.
In the classic Leslie Caron movie "Gigi", there they are, a pair of beautiful fireplace screens flanking the fireplace in their red walled flat in Paris. Surely unrecognized by most, including myself until I bought these amazing pieces.
