Beautifully hand crafted cobalt blue art glass large centerpiece bowl with an accompanying matching catchall shallow bowl. Both incised with artists signature on the bottom. Excellent condition. Centerpiece bowl stands at 14.5'X3.5'. Catchall shallow bowls stands at 7.75"X1.25".
Glen Lukens (1887-1967) was an American ceramicist, glassmaker, and jewelry designer born in Missouri. He is best known for his innovative work with glazes and his contributions to modernist jewelry. Lukens helped pave the way for ceramics today as an awarding winning ceramicist and teacher. Lukens was influential in the Pottery Movement and challenged the American Pottery industry's traditions of design, function, and decoration in the 1930s. He's work is in multiple public collections such as Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
