Hungarian born, Mathieu Matégot (1910 - 2001) is perhaps one of the most influential yet confidential designers to emerge from France in the1950s.. His work in exploring metals, fibers and materials with often utilitarian yet stylistic objets des' Artes and furniture design using his avant-gardist approach with shapes left a distinct imprint in his genre. His work continues to have impact on modern design.
