Portfolio was published to accompany the exhibition of the same name at the Pasadena Museum of Art (November 24, 1969 - January 18, 1970). The exhibition traveled to the City Art Museum of St. Louis, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and the Fort Worth Art Center.

Total of 32 loose, double-sided folio pages. Includes a silver foil title page, contents page, introduction by John Copland, catalogue of the exhibition, a page noting changes to the catalog, general bibliography, 25 artists pages, and a blank/unprinted end page.

Each artist is represented by 1 double-sided folio page. Side 1 includes a portrait of the artist with biography, selected one man exhibitions, selected group exhibitions, and selected bibliography. The reverse side features a full-page black and white image of the artist's work (with the exception of Robert Irwin's page which reads "At the request of the artist, no photograph of his work is reproduced.").

The following artists are represented: John Altoon, Larry Bell, Billy Al Bengston, Wallace Berman, Bruce Conner, Ron Davis, Tony DeLap, Richard Diebenkorn, Lorser Feitelson, Sam Francis, Joe Goode, Robert Irwin, Craig Kauffman, Edward Kienholz, Frank Lobdell, John McCracken, John McLaughlin, John Mason, Bruce Nauman, Kenneth Price, Edward Ruscha, Hassel Smith, Wayne Thiebaud, and Peter Voulkos.

Condition: Folio shows shelf and edge wear with tears present at edges and corners. All folio pages are in excellent condition.

Acquired from the estate of Naomi Caryl Hirshhorn (1931 - 2022). Caryl was a longtime art collector and patron in Los Angeles. She was also the daughter of Joseph H. Hirshhorn, whose art collection established the Hirshhorn Museum as a part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. See less
