The tops of the … Read more Mahogoan Karges style chippendale chairs with ball and claw front feet and sweeping cabriole back leg. The tops of the chairs have curled ears and the splat is intricately carved and pierced.I have compared these to the Karges chairs and the ball and claw feet are much larger and the etching and carving of this pair is much more intricate and highly detailed. The chairs are substancial in their weight and rich inthe color of the dark mahogony patina. There aren't any maker marks but it looks as though there must have been a label at some point. IComparing the Karges in size to this older chair- these chairs are bigger in every way, width, depth, details,of ball and claw. The carvings are extremely fine on these chairs and much more detailed. See less
