This marvelous antique meat skewer or letter opener is created in gorgeous silverplate and was made by the Alexander Clark … Read more This marvelous antique meat skewer or letter opener is created in gorgeous silverplate and was made by the Alexander Clark Company in the late 1800s-early 1900s for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company. This company navigated from New York to the Pacific West Coast and Alaska from 1848-1925. This beautiful skewer has a long, tapered blade with an oval opening at the top. Hallmarks are: "PMS Co and on the reverse: The Alex R Clark Company, LTD. London." Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Length from top to bottom=11-1/4 inches, Width at widest=1 inch, Depth from to back=1/16 inch.This marvelous silverplate meat skewer has been well cared for, gently used and is in good antique condition. There is light scratching, as well as a few nicks, commensurate with age and use. They do not impact this lovely skewer's beauty or usability. It is the perfect addition to your silver serving collection, particularly if you like the maritime heritage! See less
