From a group of studies of Old Master drawings by the same hand and removed from that artist's portfolio many years ago. A few are signed "Walcott" and dated 1830. Based on the fact they are all laid down to similar mounts, we will consider Walcott to have drawn all these around 1830.
Portrait of Gilbert of Assailly (died 1183) fifth Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller). Titled on the mount in Latin.
This is after a woodcut by French artist Laurent Cars (1699-1771).
Mount: 6 x 8.75 inches
