A whimsical grinning yellow glazed ceramic foo dog, with big ears and a spiny back, resting on a plinth, and holding a paw over her puppy. The group is mounted on a substantial plinth block and adapted into a lamp. This is an Italian faience sculpture in the Chinese manner, ca. mid 20th century. Glazes with many artisanal irregularities and craquelure, as made. New black "parchment" shade with great textured gold interior lining, very high quality brass fittings.
