Norina's Room is an artwork realized by Erté (Romain de Tirtoff). Gouache on paper, hand signed lower right. Titled on rear. cm. 28x18 Good conditions. Romain de Tirtoff, known as Erté (St. Petersburg, November 23, 1892 - Paris, April 21, 1990), was a Russian-born French painter, sculptor, costume and theater set designer. He was one of the greatest representatives of art deco. He was a sculptor, designer and fashion designer, also appreciated as a jewelry designer, dress designer, theater costume designer, set designer and magazine illustrator. He Russian by birth he moved to Paris in 1912, just 19 years old. He made his debut in 1915, when he began designing the cover for Harper's Bazar. In Paris he collaborates with the major music-hall shows, creating stage costumes for Mistinguett and Marion Davies. In 1969 he illustrated a volume of the Beatles. What is best known about him are the refined art deco style productions: the favorite subjects of his works are elegant and long-limbed female figures. He is known by the nickname Erté for the French pronunciation of the initials R and T. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
