Top Brands & Product Picks from WestEdge 2019

For its seventh edition, the WestEdge Design Fair will be back at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar from October 24 – 27 to display the best in design, particularly from small Southern California makers. With dozens of brands on display, particuarly in the MADE:MODERN area, we thought we’d pull together some of our favorites who will be in attendance. Founded by interior designer Tracey Garet, Apsara features a line of dramatic Giacometti-inspired lighting fixtures. These plaster pieces are on trend and come in a variety of finish options and colors; chandeliers, pendants, table lamps, and sconces are all available.
Founded over 30 years ago, Forbes & Lomax is known for taking an aesthetic approach to lightswitches and plates. They produce pieces in a variety of metals, including brass, stainless steel, and nickel; shown is their trademark acrylic Invisible Lightswitch®, seen atop a House of Harris wallcovering.

Known best for his Lotus Chair from 1969, Daniel Wenger of Wenger Designs has returned to furniture design and fabrication, working with his son Samuel in Santa Cruz, California. Together, they craft a variety of pieces from solid steel and hand-picked leather hides, including chairs, stools, and tables.
For over 70 years, The Shade Store has been developing custom window treatments, including custom shades, blinds, drapery, and more. Since their founding, The Shade Store has expanded to over 70 showrooms across the U.S., with locations spread across 20 states.
Founded by builder and custom cabinetry maker Robert Commons over 25 years ago, Sun Valley Bronze was created to provide the most extensive line of bronze hardware available. Still family owned and operated, Sun Valley Bronze handcrafts all their pieces (now including lighting, tables, and more) at their Idaho facilities.
Combining German engineering with South American artistry, Franz Viegener produces a curated selection of sculptural bath fittings from their specialty workshop in Buenos Aires. Every piece that comes out of the factory is painstakingly machined, polished, and tested, with designs created to make a statement.
Blending their disparate backgrounds in classical furniture design and punk rock fashion, partners Scott Baker and Mary Ann Hesseldenz developed Baker Hesseldenz Studio to create sophisticated pieces across a variety of categories, including seating, cabinetry, and tables.

Based in Long Beach, Amigo Modern is a design studio specializing in furniture and accessories in the spirit of California Modernism.
Cassius Castings develops stylish cement furniture for outdoor use in their Santa Monica studio. Shown is their chaise; a bench and chair are also available.
A self-taught furniture and lighting designer, Brandon Morrison and his wife Sundeep opened whyrHymer over seven years ago to great acclaim, producing handcrafted seating, lighting, and tables.
