How do you measure for a bathroom vanity?

Among the easiest way to measure for a bathroom vanity? Measure your existing one! Key to note is where any electrical and plumbing cut-outs exist. It will be important for your new vanity to replicate those accessibility points. If you’re measuring for a vanity to fill a space in which one doesn’t currently exist, measure the space in which you plan to place the vanity. Take note of the width as well as the depth and height. When calculating your width, keep in mind that building codes require that at least 18″ exist between your vanity’s edge and the center of the toilet. It’s also worth noting that when shopping for a new vanity, most will clock in at one of the following widths 24,” 30,” 36,” 48″ and 60.” Likewise, most vanities will have a height of about 31,” although it is possible to find ones slightly higher or lower. Lastly, take stock of any existing trim or molding that may exist behind where your vanity will sit and make note of how it may affect your dimensions. Keep in mind that you want to allow enough space for all doors (including shower doors and your vanity doors!) to open with ease.
