Art Deco Dressoir - Model "Paul", Manufacture De Coene Frères, Courtrai, circa 1936
Elegant dining room sideboard based on the prestigious "Paul" model, made by the famous Belgian manufacturer De Coene Frères in Courtrai in the 1930s. Dated around 1936, this piece testifies to the refinement and exceptional craftsmanship of Belgian Art Deco.
This sideboard features four doors: two curved side doors and two flat center doors, all clad in sumptuous, symmetrically grained Caucasian walnut veneer, carefully selected for its visual richness and natural depth.
The interior is fitted with a series of planks, offering modular and functional storage space, ideal for use as a dining room. In the center, a recessed showcase with sliding glass doors highlights a compartment lined with light wood and embellished with an elegantly cut-out shelf.
This piece of furniture, with its sculptural lines and curved structure, testifies to the high standards of De Coene production: precision assembly, noble materials and refined finishes.
Fully restored and polished with shellac using traditional techniques, it has regained all its original brilliance and character.
About De Coene Frères
Founded in Kortrijk, Belgium, in the 19th century, De Coene Frères established itself as one of Europe's leading manufacturers of high-end furniture in the early 20th century. Renowned for its excellence in craftsmanship and innovation, the company collaborated with numerous designers and took part in several international exhibitions. In the 1920s-1930s, it became a major player in the Art Deco movement, producing refined furniture, often in limited series, combining precious materials and modernist lines. Today, the De Coene name is synonymous with prestige, quality and the heritage of Belgian design. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
