Originally designed for the Asian market the table was designed by Berti to enable the fine dune sand to be combed to echo a Zen garden. There were however problems with distribution and so it is believed that no more than 1000 tables in this configuration were made and shipped before production ceased a few years later.
Although the table never really fulfilled its main purpose and potential it still remains a very useable and entertaining centrepiece for a social area. The glass can be lifted off and the interior can be decorated with objects like flowers, shells, photos or other memorabilia. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
