This vintage 5x14 Persian kilim is a mid-century tribal rug believed to originate from the Khalkhal village in Azerbaijan.
On the Design:
Handwoven in wool, this flatweave enjoys a saturated red open field with blue geometric patterns and a rich brown border. Keen eyes will further note the many vibrant accents interwoven in the geometry, and admire the meticulous nature in their subtle variations. Both this and the sharp, architectural nature of the patterns remark this as an exemplary work among nomadic Persian flatweaves for its period. Its gallery runner size further offers vast design applications today.
Condition:
The midcentury Persian Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
