Coming from a New York City estate, we have a great pleasure to offer you this RARE abd BEST OF … Read more Coming from a New York City estate, we have a great pleasure to offer you this RARE abd BEST OF THE BEST Early 19th Century PAIR of Porcelain URNS / Vases converted to LAMPS. These beauty queens were made in the early 19th century in Paris (France), by quality of work only attributable to Nast or Dagoty. They are made of porcelain, center of each urn / vase features a phenomenal black & white painting of a girl, which is set over the richest cobalt / Royal Blue color base. On the sides they feature a pair of large baby angel putti heads, flying on a cutest pair of "fairy" wings. As these were only made for royalty, most likely the girls were sisters adored by their parents, hence the elaborate symbolical work of art. Original urns / porcelain bodies were later capped and affixed on raised bronze bases, as they stand now, each with four feet with wire cord coming out of the back., to serve as lamps. Each lamp has a single bulb socket, and (generic) arching harp that is topped with a gorgeous large leaf form finial. Condition is good, light use / age wear, one wing on the putti is chipped (please see last photo). Size is large 33" tall overall to the top of the finial, 23" tall to the light bulb socket, widest point on handles is 9", depth is 7", and the bronze base is 6.25" diameter wide.
