The … Read more Florentine Singer from the XVᵉ century is a signed work on the terrace by French sculptor Paul Dubois (1829-1905).
The plaster original, which won an award at the Paris Salon in 1865, was reproduced in several copies, including the one offered here, by the founder Ferdinand Barbedienne.
Charming and full of life, this bronze sculpture with a brown patina represents a neo-Florentine singer playing the mandolin. The upper part has many details, such as buttons, drapery or hair, while the lower part is smooth.
This subject rests on a circular molded base, in griotte marble from Belgium, on which is affixed the inscription "Jacques Rouche L'Ecole Polytechnique 4 Mai 1919".
The Florentine singer of the 15th century, with a graceful look, inspires youth and love.
