All this changed after the mid-nineteenth century, when Oushak became a major manufacturing center again due to the extensive revival of Turkish and Persian Oriental carpet production. The large and growing middle class in Europe and the United States suddenly created a new demand for oriental antique carpets, and like many other historic carpet manufacturing centers today, Oushak has rapidly developed to meet this demand.
