Originally sold as part of a tea set comprised of three Redware geese, one teapot, one creamer, both of those have mouth or rather beak spouts making it possible to pour fluid from them. This goose is unique in the fact that it doesn’t have a spout for pouring. Made in Japan in the 1940s/50s. The hand painted glaze has an iridescent quality to it that is not easily captured in photography. This piece has a brown iridescent glaze that covers the majority of the body of this piece. There is an oil slick visual quality in the sheen. The wings , the goose shaped handle, the tail feathers & the head all have white cloudy accents with small touches of green and pink shades. There is gold on the bill of the goose & in the eyes. The ribbon around its neck is red. I also have an example of the teapot listed separately. See less
