This vintage 6x8 Persian kilim is believed to be a tribal rug of the Shushtar region of Iran.
On the Design:
Handwoven in wool circa 1980-1990, connoisseurs will note that Shushtar is one of Iran’s most ancient cities known for its distinguished rugs. This particular Shushtar Kilim enjoys a uniquely modern sensibility in its use of otherwise simple geometric patterns and neutrals that create an almost negative space in the field. Its subtle variations of color further lend a fabulous sense of movement such cozy desert tones seldom offer. The whole look is one-of-a-kind in its play of rustic old-world charm and a contemporary attitude. It’s a smart, yet liable flatweave with vast applications.
Condition:
This mid-century Persian Shushtar Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
