This vintage 5x5 Persian kilim is believed to be a mid-century tribal rug, handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This Persian remarks the panel-weaving technique, in which tribal weavers combine multiple pieces into a larger flat weave. The result enjoys a rich red field, with navy blue and off-white stripes in a plaid-like border. Keen eyes will further admire the many colorful, textural embroideries in its field and border—a whimsical complement seen in a rare series of recently curated Kilims in our collection. It’s an exemplary Kilim that captures rustic charm and personal beauty in nomadic Persian weaving we celebrated today.
Condition:
This mid-century Persian Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
