This vintage 4x6 Persian kilim is believed to be a Kurdish Jajim-style flat weave, handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
Jajim Kilims like this are known for their distinct take on the tribal panel weave style in which weavers combine multiple pieces into one. This design enjoys a plaid-like play of stripes and geometric patterns, with especially present red, rust and teal tones. Keen eyes will further admire a look of pattern-within-pattern, and the sense of movement such an otherwise cozy, comfortable rug enjoys. It’s an exemplary work in the personal nature of this provenance, full of rustic charm with vast applications.
Condition:
This mid-century Kurdish Jajim Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
