This marvelous Herend Hadik Hussar figurine [5505 which started production in 1947] is created in gorgeous handmade porcelain with hand-painted colors of blue, red, gold, black and brown by the legendary Hungarian master artisans of Herend. This beautiful figurine is modeled after the 18th century Field Marshal of the Hapsburg's Army, Andras Hadik [1710-1790], who commanded Calvary soldiers known as Hussars. Herend has captured his likeness in full regalia and his uniform is accented with 24k gold. Impressed backstamp reads: "Herend 5505" and an impressed "2." The painted stamp reads: "Herend, Hungary, Hand painted with the shield including a hand painted "80" representing the artist's signature, who was Kisfaludi Strobl Zsigmond, one of Herend's most notable artist. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=15 inches, Width at base=7 inches, Depth from front to back=5 inches. This stunning Hussar has been well cared for, gently displayed and is in excellent vintage condition, free from chips, cracks or other imperfections. It it the perfect addition to your Herend collection or as a gift for the military minded, particularly if you enjoy expert handmade porcelain figures.
