This is a stunning Original Mixed Media Painting on Paper by Listed California Artist, Hendrik Grise (1914-1982). Grise was a prolific artist who was part of many of the major art movements of the mid-20th Century. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Dallas Museum School of Art before coming to Southern California in the late 1940s, where he consistently exhibited his work. He was friends with several artists from the New York School, including Mark Tobey who was close to Jackson Pollock. The influences of his time are clear in his bright, fluid works.

This piece is one of the best you will ever see by Hendrik Grise. It has elements of Dali, Miro, Sam Francis, etc. Done in the early-1970s, this luminous work rivals the paintings of some of the highest-regarded artists of the period. It is signed in the lower right and it has been float-matted in a crisp midcentury modern frame under glare-free museum glass with all archival materials. Provenance and Certification: We bought the bulk of Hendrick Grise's estate in 2015 and are beginning to market his works and introduce him more broadly to the public. Condition: Very outer edges of paper have subtle toning from age. This is not a flaw, but is due to the age of the paper. Archival framing pristine. New
