Eva Martino (American, b. 1929) - Vintage Hand Carved Outsider Biomorphic Wood Sculpture, Signed (ca. 1950). Stippled initials “EM” at the base. In good condition with wear consistent with age. Stress cracks on the sculpture and one larger crack on the back side. Refer to pictures for details.
Size: 21.5”H x 8”D
Born in Philadelphia, Martino studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts summer program in Yellow Springs in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Giovanni Martino, a painter who came from a family of artists. Martino showed both nationally and internationally during her career. Her work can be found at Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia.
