This piece simply glows - the entire piece, with the exception of the inset panel with Rohde's design, is gilt (a stunning shade that looks like 24K gold). It is signed and dated (1972 - upper right corner).

This is a smaller scale table. Could be used as an end table or side table in the right setting. Perfect coffee table for a smaller space. There is some scuffing on the bottom of the legs, otherwise the condition is very good given the age of the piece.

A sculptor and furniture designer, Bernhard E. Rohne was born in Germany and emigrated to his current home, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1967.

His primary mediums are copper, brass, aluminum and zinc metal sheets, which he etches and oxidizes. From them he creates decorative panels, furniture and accessories. He's also worked in enamels, stained glass and mixed mediums. His subject is primarily abstraction - colors, shapes and textures. His styles are Abstract Expressionism and Geometric Abstraction. He collaborated with Mastercraft on a number of fine furniture pieces that are in collections worldwide today.
