Proof in bronze with green and brown patina, signed on the terrace Maurice Constant Favre (1875-1919) and bearing a cartouche on the front of the base (Moissonneur Par Mce Constant). This French artist was noticed for his talent at the end of the 19th century, as soon as he graduated from the Beaux-Arts.
"The Harvester" was awarded the 2nd medal at the Paris Salon in 1907. It represents a farmer resting from his work. As a testimony of his effort, he wipes his forehead with his arm after removing his round hat. Shirtless, this athletic man holds his rake against his body.
A tribute to the courageous workers of the fields, this meticulously chiseled work is harmonious and touching.
