1 Fine Scottish Work of Art Oil Painting Scottish Highlands Beinn Bhàn Loch Levan By William Collie Milne Cadenhead.
Subject beautiful impressionist Scottish Highland mountain landscape view of Beinn Bhàn Loch Levan.
Title "Beinn Bhàn Loch Levan".
Signed in the bottom corner by the known Scottish artist William Collie Milne Cadenhead (1934-2005).
Set in the original traditonal stylish frame.
A nice small display size with the frame being 28.5 cm high and 32.25cm width.
Having such impressive dramatic perspective, in the foreground your focus is first drawn to the rocky shoreline having various small stones and boulders, then your breath is taken away by the gentle ripples on the Loch water surface which is so hypnotising and tranquil, in the background magnificent view of Beinn Bhàn THE rocky corries mountains. Large focused narrow descending beam of sunlight rays is bursting through from out of the overcast grey clouds above and shining on the other opposite shore which creates a dramatic atmosphere of intrigue and mystery.
The use of dark and light tone colour is exceptional with this artwork.
Beinn Bhàn is a mountain in the highlands of Scotland, lying on the Applecross peninsula, on the north side of Loch Kishorn.
The most striking features of Beinn Bhàn are the rocky corries on the eastern side, which are seen well from the A896 road. The best known of the corries is probably Coire na Poite, which forms a bowl shape, almost entirely ringed by crags offering climbing and winter ice climbing routes. The summit of Beinn Bhàn lies directly above the corries floor, which has two small lochans.
The ridges between the corries offer several routes to the summit for scramblers.
Loch Leven (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Lìobhann) is a fresh water loch located immediately to the east of the burgh of Kinross in Perth and Kinross council area, central Scotland. Roughly triangular, the loch is about 6 km (3.7 mi) at its longest. Prior to the canalisation of the River Leven, and the partial draining of the loch in 1826–36, Loch Leven was considerably larger. The drop in water level by 1.4 m (4 ft 7 in) reduced the loch to 75% of its former size, and exposed several small islands, as well as greatly increasing the size of the existing ones.
There are seven islands on the loch, the largest being St Serf's Inch. Loch Leven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567, lies on one of these islands, and it can be reached by a ferry operated from Kinross by Historic Environment Scotland during the summer months.
Loch Leven as "one of Scotland's top natural assets", due to its rich ecosystem that supports many different species of plants, insects, fish and birds. It is of particular significance to migrating birds, who use it as a stopover when flying between their breeding and wintering grounds, due to its lowland location, shallow nutrient rich waters, large water surface, and islands (which provide safe nesting sites). Loch Leven holds numerous national and international conservation designations, including being a national nature reserve.
